Ya know, it's really hard to blog when you are proofreading and hashing out a treatment for an opera. My apologies making Sarah and Mangold and not Manguso. Oy; I have her cool book and everything.
What I meant to say in that The Believer post
What I meant to say in that The Believer post is that there's lotsa Harvards in there, yes, and the best one in there for sure is Manguso's article on Russell Edson. I've read half of it, and with lots of curiousity, because of the author and Edson. I'm reading with him in a couple weeks at Pete's Big Salmon (petesbigsalmon.com), and a couple people have emailed me saying that it's great, it's really cool, all that. The Believer article is worth the read. Douglas W@olk, who panned my book in the Voice last fall, has an article, too. Yay, I thought. He's smart and he hates my book.
Anway, I knew Edson's work slightly, and then ordered a couple of his many books: The Tunnel, his selected, as well as the more recent The Tormented Mirror, which I read on the subway this morning. It's just great. More later...
